GENESIS 2016

Genesis: The consecration to enlightenment is the inaugural ceremony, which marks the opening of the new session of MBA (Business Economics). 

Addressed by resplendent personalities from the corporate world, academia and our own preeminent alumni, the event provides a wonderful platform for the students of new and final year batches to reach out and connect with masters from different fields and enhance their spheres of knowledge.

Smash Cricket League
 Arts Faculty Building, University of Delhi   10:00 AM

It continued to be the most fun and successful event, which brought together juniors and seniors for the first time in teams of six against each other on the cricket battle ground.It was conducted by the Sports Club of the Department and was a 12-day affair that started from 30 th July and continued till 12 th August, 2015. 

The event proved to be a stepping stone in corroborating the unity in the Department.The cricket tournament generated heavy interests among students and stood as a testimony for the all-round development of the students.

Vishleshan

Vishleshan is the annual flagship event of Department of Business Economics wherein distinguished industry leaders from Analytics are invited to enlighten the students and share their perspective. It attracts student participation from premier institutes from all over India. 

The event was held on 10th September, 2015 and the theme for the year was “Analytics – A Panacea for Finding the Needle in the Haystack?”

The event was addressed by esteemed corporate speakers who shared their perspective on numerous subthemes ranging from ‘Fraud and Credit - risk analytics’ to the ‘new innovations popping in the retail sector’. The Speakers of the event included:

  • Rajesh Kumar Shukla, AVP Decision Analytics, EXL Service

  • Ankur Singh, Director – Analysis, dunnhumby

  • Debleena Datta, Senior Manager, (A Fortune 500 credit card company)

  • Anurag Srivastava, Manager, Deloitte Consulting

  • Krishna Kumar, Head, India Operations, Abzooba

  • Susmita Nandi, Practice Manager, Bluestar Infotech Pvt.Ltd

  • Anshul Goyal, Analytics Head – India, Capillary Technologies

The event also saw participation from premiere b-schools from all over the nation in the two major competitions namely-

Annual Convention
 Arts Faculty Building, University of Delhi   12:00 PM

Highlight of the academic calendar at MBA(BE), the Annual Convention provides a valuable platform for interaction between industry and academia. A current business issue is chosen as the theme for the convention and distinguished industrialists, policy makers, professionals and academicians are invited to put forth their views. MBA(BE)'s annual publication, The Business Economist is also released the same day in the event which also lies on the lines of the main theme.

    The event was held on 14th October, 2015.

Theme - Embracing Adaptability: Honoring The Past, Seizing The Present, Shaping The Future.

The event was graced by the presence of Ms Swati Maliwal, Chairperson, Delhi Commission for Women and Dr Ashok Gulati, Infosys Chair Professor for agriculture, ICRIER who addressed the audience as the Chief Guests of the day.

The event also witnessed brainstorming sessions by distinguished speakers on numerous sub-themes including–

Melange - The Annual Business Fest

Melange is the Annual Business Fest of the Department of Business Economics where Marketing and Finance meet Analytics. This year, it was held for a period of three days, from 4th February, 2016 to 6th February, 2016. A plethora of events were conducted and students from all over the country participated in various events.

1. ARTHNITI – THE ANNUAL ECONOMICS CONCLAVE (4th February, 2016)​

Arthniti organized by the Economics Club “EcoSoc”, gives our students the opportunity to interact and connect with crème of the industry. This annual gathering, organized by the Economics Society, is the place where thoughts are shared and new ideas are discussed.

A much awaited event, the Arthniti is where our students match their wits with the academia and distinguished members of the industry.

The theme for this year’s Arthniti was Innovate! Integrate! Invigorate! - To build a robust Indian economy”

2. MARKQUEST – THE ANNUAL MARKETING CONCLAVE (5th February, 2016)

MarkQuest , organized by the marketing club "MarkiBiz", provides a valuable platform for interaction between industry and academia with their views being shared on multiple themes honing the business and marketing acumen of the students.

The theme for this year’s MarkQuest was “New Favourites of Marketing: From Back Waters to Front Line”

3. MOOLYANKAN – THE ANNUAL FINANCE CONCLAVE (6th February, 2016)

Moolyankan is hosted by Finance Club "Blue Chips". Through this event the club attempts to create synergies between the students and the financial industry by endearing an interactive platform which brings together industrialists, policy makers and professionals, all leaders in their domain. It not only provides an opportunity for students to expand their knowledge but also provides them with a holistic understanding of the practical world.

The theme for Moolyankan 2016 was The Rising Elephant: Emerging Changes in Indian Financial Eco-System”

Pahal 2016

Pahal’16 was the maiden annual event of the ROOTS – the Social Club of Department of Business Economics, University of Delhi. Pahal was conceptualized to promote better coordination among various social clubs operating in the B schools & other colleges across India. The aim was to provide a platform where people working on various social issues can come together, address the challenges faced by each other and inspire other with their work.

Pahal is a summit of all the social clubs of premier B schools & undergraduate colleges of Delhi University, various NGOs, CSR representatives and prominent social activists and will serve as a platform for the interaction among distinguished activists, CSR representatives from Corporate Houses, NGO representatives and students working in diverse social dimensions. The event is one of its kinds and hopes enthusiastic participation from all walks of life.

The one-day event was inaugurated by DCW – Delhi Commission of Women Chief Ms. Swati Jaihind Maliwal. The newly launched 108 scheme was explained to students and volunteers. The second session was addressed by Dr. KK Upadhyay – CSR Head FICCI addressing the growing role of corporates in social welfare.

This was followed by one of the most engaging session of RJ Naved who spoke on the role of social media in modern day communication. The last of the morning session was addressed by Ms Raashi Anand, the head of Lakshyam and an award winning social entrepreneur on ways building a social organization.

The post lunch session started with an event named “A HAND IN THE CROWD” for the best social club of Delhi NCR. The very famous Ms Nandita Das made an appearance & enthralled audience post this session. The last session of the day was addressed by Mr Anshul Tewari, CEO of Youth ki Awaaz. He laid emphasis on the need of freedom and unbiasedness of media in reporting the exact situation of society.

The event ended with a High Tea and networking session where volunteers and social workers tried to connect with each other. Members of ROOTs were proud of hosting a successful event of its kind and very congratulated by the HOD of department Mr Suresh Agarwal.

Every year Department takes the privilege to celebrate the success of its students in the form of Alumni Meet – REMINISCENCE. The distinguished alumni gather to thank their alma mater, renew old friendships and make new ones at Department of Business Economics.

 

This year Reminiscence will take place on 17th September, 2016 at the picturesque Eros Hotel, Nehru Place, New Delhi. Along with the regular alumni meet, the evening will also witness the celebration of the Silver Jubilee Reunion ceremony of 1991 batch of DBE. This one day event is packed with various activities including cultural performances and fun filled games.
